Had mine for a month now. I thought I was getting used to it but I am still kind of nervous about other drivers hitting my car or it getting dinged. I wonder how long before that wears off?

After the first ding/scratch.

Sorry...

Not even then. Someone decided to nick the front of my LE in a parking lot but I still am very very picky about where I park. Maybe even more so.

Just have 300 miles on mine, getting onto the eway today the front end seemed really light while under full throttle... Need more time with it. Entered the eway at 85, backed off at 95! Felt like there was so much more to go

4 months in...
- still wash it weekly
- still take laps in the lot until I find "the spot"
- still steal glances out the window whenever possible
...you got a ways to go before you treat this machine like any other car.

I've had mine for 2 weeks now. Starting to get used to this beast. I don't plan on driving my car every day (I have an 04 Accord coupe for my DD) ... easier said than done ... I drove my car every day last week!

This is a great car, Ford!

I feel EXACTLY the same way. I'm not worried about myself doing the damage, it's the other drivers around me.

I live in an apartment, so I don't have my own garage, but there's a paid parking lot just beside my building which is where I park all my cars, and usually I'd park in the spot closest to the entrance, but with the Stang I came up with a very strategic way of parking that requires me moving 3 cars around every time I have to move it or park it, in which I have it protected by one of my other cars from one side and the driveway is on the other.

Eventually though this will wear off. I did the same thing when I bought the GTi. Actually I do this with anything new that I buy :frusty:

5 months later still parking in the back of parking lots. Still walk around car before getting in. Still get nervous at red lights when someone pulls up behind me. (Been rear ended 3 times sitting at a red light for a few minutes each time then randomly get rear ended.)

I'm past the 1000 mile mark, don't have to drive extra hard and push the engine just for the sake of breaking it in, but I do anyway :D

Only a fraction of the new car smell is left, must of got rid of the bulk of it when I detailed the interior and leather seats with Meguire's spray on stuff.

Feel 100% comfortable shifting, changing lanes, the blind spots were my initial concerns.

Have 2 sand grain chips in the windshield from a rock

Seems like I've had the car forever now, but took delivery 2 1/2 months ago.
