You guys that already have your GT350, and I know some of you have been running your car hard at the track, and some just driving them on the street. Are any of you Experiencing any oil consumption in the Voodoo motor?

I know my 2015 GT Mustang never used any oil, and it did seen some real spirited driving..... Thanks John

GT350 on order, coming soon we hope! :ford:

I have a UPR catch can and saw it collect a couple tablespoons after a track day and maybe a few hundred miles of commuting.

I now have 4500 miles on the car and have done one oil change at the 2700 miles mark before the track day. Haven't been able to measure much consumption when I had the oil changed or since. I'll keep my eye on the catch can and the dipstick to see if I notice anything strange.

Normal driving: very little oil consumption. an ounce or two in the catch can every few thousand miles

Track driving: after a full weekend of tracking it (about 500 miles on the track) there was about 2 ounces in the catch can and the crankcase was a quart low.

There is a previous thread on break in. I had an '83 & '87 GT that I broke in gently, and they both used a quart about every 1000 miles. I broke my GT350 in much harder, and after 600 miles I haven't noticed any oil consumption to speak of.

Not a drop yet. 1500 miles. Changed it myself at 1000. Oil catch cans are ordered, due next week.

That would likely be attributed to 30 yrs of improved machining techniques and materials used.

Nah, I used my STI hard from day 1 and it was one of the few that didn't eat oil. Got to balance the break in, as being super gentle will seat the rings poorly, but don't want to go too nuts.

Technology has improved significantly, along with oil. But, I have to agree that how you drive that first couple of hundred miles makes a difference.

Very few similarities between an ej257 and this engine. Including cylinder wall and piston material. Literally every person I know with one has oil consumption issues. One in particular @ 117k miles was using 3 quarts per oil change. My sti just consumed the shit factory pistons. So much so that in 36k miles the warranty had replaced the engine, 2 pistons twice. Luckily I knew a good lawyer. I've never had any engine aside from my honda (which currently has 382k miles) but ill let that slide, that consumed oil and I've never beat on my vehicles during break in.
