So, my stock clutch was fine but I decided to swap it at the same time as my gears. I went with a ACT FM13-HDSS - HD/Perf Street Sprung since it is rated at 44% over stock. I have put around 200 miles on the clutch so far and it is holding with no problem. Today I decided to do a 3rd gear pull. I went to shift between 7000 and 7500 rpms. I pushed in the clutch and shifted to 4th, then let out on the clutch. When I let out on the clutch...it stayed on the floor??? It popped back up once the rpms decreased. I thought that it was in my head. I tried it again about 10 mins later and the same thing happened. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be? I removed the helper spring months ago and never had this issue with the stock clutch. Is this a situation where the rpm's create a centrifugal pull on the pressure plate fingers?

Does the clutch have a remote bleeder? I had something similar happen in my Z06, the issue was with the bleeding system.

The hydraulic system for the clutch is self-bleeding. I would contact ACT and see if that particular model is up to the task to handle 7,500rpm.

Thanks! I'm just surprised that the stock clutch could handle 7,500rpm but this one can't.

I'd guess that the stock clutch would eventually doing the same thing as you're experiencing now. Very weird that you have this issue with the ACT clutch as they are a very reputable company AFAIK.

Yeah, I have used their clutches in the past with no issues. That's way I went with one this time and I'm not very hard on clutches; didn't feel the need for a twin disc.

I tested it again this morning and it is fine at 6000rpms. 6500rpms it starts to stick to the floor a little. After 6500rpms and it is completely stuck to the floor. The pedal pops back up around 5500rpms. Weird and it is going to kill my track times lol.

If memory serves me I came across this with another clutch and it ended up being the pressure plate was unable to handle the high rpm

Sometimes air is trapped in the system. Pump it a 100 times and drive it a day or two and see what happens

Yup, I talked to a few people today and they all said the same thing. The only time that I have the issue is from 3rd to 4th above 6500rpms. I tested it multiple times today. I am just going to live with it until this clutch is done. I'm not going to be easy on it either. I'm still going to the track at some point next month and see what it can do with shifting between 6000 and 6500.

evo8904 - you mentioned that you had the clutch pedal assist spring removed. So I was curious if the new aftermarket clutch felt stiffer than the stock clutch with the spring out?

If the new clutch felt softer, then it very well could be the pressure plate springs aren't that stiff and the centripetal force at high RPM isn't allowing them to return the pressure plate to the clamping position.

The clutch actually feels stiffer than the stock clutch until high rpms.
