I was hoping someone would be able to help me with correct information. It seems I keep getting conflicting answers from people I have asked. I have a 2016 Ecoboost Premium and the DRL’s never came on. The dealer told me my car didn’t come equipped with them, even going so far as to show me in my dash cluster settings they weren’t available to set as on or off. I would really like to have them operate like I thought they would. Is there a way to have them programmed to work? Dealer tells me no, others i have spoken to (Mustang enthusiasts) tell me yes. Anyone know the real story, and how to do It? Thanks!

That's not right. Can you try a different dealership?

I went to three local dealers. All the same answer. Very frustrating.

Do you have your lights set to auto? I know they will not come on if you don't.

Yea, they are on auto. All three dealers tell me car was built without them. I have to believe that there is a way they can be programmed to work.

If they are like my 2013 F-150 the dealer can plug their little program reader into the OBD port, and turn them on. The 150's are the same in the USA, and Canada except they go to Canada with the DRL's enabled. I have no idea if the Mustangs are the same, but asking never hurt. Just a thought.

Export Mustangs don't have the LED boards/hardware in the headlights at all, so maybe some models in the US didn't either?

I have them, they operate as my parking lights, just not as the DRL. I know there has to be a way they can be programmed. Problem is, no dealer is saying they can do it.

The DRLs should be the three LED “slashes” inside each headlamp, right? Mine are always lit up when the car is running.

Yup, that’s them. I have them and they illuminate when my headlamps are on, they operate as parking lights, just not as DRL’s.

The led in the head amps are what is called signiture light , the dlr function should be able to be turned on at the dealer level . If I recall right the fog lamp on the 15-16 would be turned on for the drl .

The three LED’s in the headlight housing are the DRL’s for ‘15’s through ‘18’s. They should normally function as the DRL when the car is running and in drive. There is a setting on the computer in the center of the gauges under the “set up” screen where you can go to settings-lights-then there is usually an option to turn on or off the DRL’s. My car doesn’t have that setting, the dealership said the car was built without them as an option. The three local dealerships I have been to all told me they can’t be added. I have to believe that they can certainly be programmed to work. I just need a “guru” to explain how to get it done.

Only when the headlights are on or I turn on the parking lights.
