Oh no!!! Why can't people just admit they screwed up? I had a woman hit my 5 day old 95 GT and tell me the same thing. You were going too fast! I had stopped to look both ways while exiting a parking lot, before I could move she hit me. Liar. By some miracle it just scraped up a front wheel a bit. You'll get your car fixed good as new!

I have become paranoid driving my car at slow speeds, such as in parking lots, backing up, entering my garage, you name it.

Seems like the highest risk is when navigating these slow-speed situations. If I don't screw it up (I did once already), then the other driver will.

But you could prove that you weren't speeding when she hit you. Dash cams are always a good thing to have. They give context to the situation and you don't have to hand over the footage if you don't want to ;)
