As title states, I'm thinking doing NT05 front and NT05R for rear. Trying to decide on rim diameter and width. I'm checking all the popular sites and finding 18's but those only seem to be 18x8.5 and I *believe* I want a 18x9 front and 18x10.5 rear does that sound about right?

I'm running Nitto Invos now and it is dangerous with the colder roads it wants to slide everywhere.

Please share what you have been successful with.

Thank you

NT05R is an ok tire but the grip isn't great. I'd look at the mt et street ss. 17x10.5 is what im running

I am +900 and I run 20x10 and 20x11. I use Conti extremesport contacts in the rainy season and Michelin cup 2’s in the warmer season.

Which rims are you running. I live in Florida so it's always warm here. How did you get the 20x11s to fit? Did you have to use spacers or widen wheel well or anything?

I am trying to make decision what to buy but want to just get it put it on. I don't understand wheel spacing, offset etc.

Thanks for your help.

I heard the mickeys are dangerous in rain and last maybe 3k miles if lucky that true?
Not the street ss. Maybe the street r is pretty bad. Ya not a great rain tire, but not dangerous. I’ve got prob 4-,5000 on mine and quite a few trips to the track. Still tons of life left

I use a Racestar 17x10.5 with a 305/45/17 tire.

I've tried the Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S and ET Street R.

Both hook incredibly well on the street. I'd say the Street R does better once you're around 900whp but both have the same compound so they performed similarly for me on the street. But I'm strictly talking about from a roll, as I don't launch it on the street.

The S/S drives noticeably better than the R on the street at normal speeds since its steel belted. The R weighs 8 lbs less per tire because of this. I've even driven the S/S in the rain without any scares or issues. I wouldn't ever do that with the R.

I'm currently using the Street R but I may switch back to the Street S/S just because it drove smoother. I think people have gotten into the 1.3 60' range with the S/S, too.

I have the NTo5Rs now. And they're dangerous in bad weather. I pull into the slow lane. Put it in rain & snow mode. Put my 4 ways on. And do 45mph if it starts raining. and I'm on the highway.

That's exactly what i would do. I check weather and never drive in rain unless by accident.

Roads were cold last week and half throttle car got really squirrelly on me on the invos I'm running. Was eye opener i need different solution.

You guys think that the et street ss are better overall than nt05r when considering price, dry grip, and not terrible if in small chance stuck in rain?

A lot of people I know that have decent power run the Nitto 555R Drag radial. Everything is a compromise when your sitting in a car that makes serious power. The 555R's are supposed to be a very good road tire in most conditions. But it's still made of softer compound for drag use. (Worst strip tire out there!) They're more of a street tire then strip tire in my opinion. I cant comment on the MT SS tires. I've only used the R's. And I found the MT Rs to be very similar to the NTo5Rs in bad weather.

I run Project 6GR’s for both street and road course. They are made for our cars so offset is optimal and no body modifications or spacers. Any reputable shop will help you with wheel size and offset. I’m also lowered an inch for reference.
