Just got my 18 GT home yesterday. Welp...today its been very interesting with the transmission. Sometimes reverse goes straight in, sometimes it just goes in a little and you have to press it in harder to move in the extra bit or it'll grind. Sometimes some of the other gears(random) have a hard time to get into. Never grinded my 16 GT and Ive grinded quite a few times today on my 18, quite nerve racking for a $40k+ car.

Anyone else having these symptoms?

Yeah. Reverse has been like that for every car I've owned. However. the MT82 basically seems to have to be man handled to shift into 2nd. I wonder if the twin disc clutch is having issues.

Since I've stopped being delicate with it, it has responded really well.

Edit: If you google "MT82 hard to shift" You'll see a lot of people addressing the issue to some degree.

For those times it seems difficult to get into reverse, try shifting into first, then to second and then back into reverse. Reverse tends to line up better for engagement.

my tranny (ecoboost) seems to be a bit "grindy" between gears, mostly into 2nd and 3rd... like i can feel the synchros not syncing or something. dont care for it, but i guess ill just wail on it till it fails then make them slap in a new tranny?

anyone else feel like its chunky between gears? this normal?

Put 3000 miles on it , I think its the syncros that need a little wearing in. Mine was stiff and ground a little going into gear once in awhile , now at 3000 miles its as smooth as can be.

Put it in 1st then reverse

Double clutch then reverse

Both might fix it. This happens with any manual transmission car.

I can confirm that my 18 trans has been feeling better and better as I drive it. (1800 miles now) I did experience the symptoms you're seeing though.

You have a clutch that is not completely disengaging.
