Do we have any expected date for the 2016 switchover yet?
According to http://www.arifleet.com/publications/build-out_start-up_dates/
2013s started production 2/27/2012
2014s started production 1/22/2013
2015s started production 8/18/2014
so when will 2016s start? Are they going to do a full model year, or are they going to shortchange 2015 and do a more traditional H1 start date?

The Fusions start 2016 production on 4/20/15. Since they're on the same line at Flat Rock, that's the most likely answer. Order banks will probably open 2/2/15.

So I live in Chicago area. Wanted to wait till spring to get my GT because of the wheather. So waiting till then should I be looking at a 16 and not a 15?

Something to hope for. I wasn't planning on ordering until March/April anyway.

Does it really matter? Unless Ford announces some upgrades or changes to the 2016's, they will be identical to the 2015's. And because the 2015 is rumored to be a short production model year, it will basically be the same car. You will probably get a better incentive on the 2015's once the 2016 production starts so that dealers can make room on the lots for the new cars.

I was going to order in February, but I might wait for some news on the 2016. My main reason for thinking of waiting is because Ford just announced that Sync would run on the new QNX system for most 2016's.

The only reason I can think of to not wait would be if guard is a 1 year color, PP wheels were no longer black or I just get tired of waiting. If 2016's didn't come out until September/October then there is no way I would wait.

I would be surprised if the 16s dont have the new Sync 3.

Fusion & Mustang production timelines are not interdependent, despite being built in the same facility.

There will be new colors, some colors dropped, maybe new wheels . . . MAYBE an AT PP, who knows? But they'll change something. And they won't be 50th Anniversary cars, which I think is pretty cool.

So since '15 is supposed to be a short run, does that mean in 50 years we will have rare cars? :)

They may change something, they may not.

I don't see the switchover coming as early as February though. They didnt start 15 production until August and weren't at dealerships until October-ish.

It going to be very difficult to predict with Flat Rock producing vehicles for global markets, each of which will need to reconcile its own cadence with the FRAP Job schedules. I'd expect 2015 MY to run longer than expected.
