Mine is a FV 796 AA VEP678 14L10 car. So will this silly theory ever be blown or will we be driving over the crank shortly ?

Perf, we understand you got a good apple.

But just as one bad apple does not mean they are all bad, it goes the other way as well.

The fact that the early engines are the ones popping for unknown reasons still stands.

I guess we just need more time to pass as the Cleveland engines get more miles on them to see.

I think we have the same engine build date. Have you modified it yet? Im afraid to modify because people keep saying our engine is more likely to go boom.

I'd love to have seen the stickers on the ones that's popped to compare with the ones that haven't. If the ones popping had similar codes, then that'd be a dead giveaway to assembly issues within that time period.

So far, it looks like the few 796 AA - VEP 678 cars have taken a beating. Mine just crossed over 50k miles with mods and lots of E30 mileage. Race track, highway, city driving — it's been subjected to it all.

I hope more people keep posting theirs so we can begin to watch for any patterns.

I have a dual valve catch can, green filter and CPE intercooler. Not headily modified at all by any means. I feel I have only done the mods to help the engine run better. I run 93 octane here in Florida but I'm not gonna say I'm the most abusive driver to the car. I mainly just cruise in as my daily driver. I'm at 17k miles and I'm thinking of tuning it after I cross 20k. I feel if I haven't had a problem by now I should be ok:ford:

Here's mine:
Sticker on the door says 12/14 build date. I have about 7500 miles on it, been tuned since 600 and FBO since 6000. Miles aren't that high but I do beat on it quite a bit.

VEP 469 here. Engine was installed in January of 2015, after my original failed. This engine has 42k miles on it, with around 30k of those tuned by Adam. I run E30 almost exclusively. Full Race intercooler, JLT, catless DP. No issues other than a leaky front cover. Lots of hard driving and street racing.

Timing chain cover...yup, had that leak. Small, but irritating to have on a newish car.
