I received updated part just as Joe said he would send. I've been treated first class, really appreciate Joe's responsiveness and the fact that UPR stands behind the quality of their product. I'm planning to do the oil change this weekend so hopefully all goes well... ten quarts and new oil...
Joe@UPR has been super responsive, he says he's sending the updated part out today. I cannot ask for any better customer support. I'm on the other side of the country from him so it'll be a few days before I get it. So far 10+ for customer support.

Thanks cheeser and HoosierDaddy, appreciate the responses. I had chosen the UPR drain plug because of the magnet on the end... at the time I ordered, I had just recently done a transmission drain and fill on a Honda and its magnet caught some debris (I know I'm comparing apples to oranges), so...
I agree with RobZ71LM7 comment 15 on page 1. I liked the UPR drain plug when I put it in after my first oil change, but having problems getting it out for second oil change. I will be going back to OEM drain plug...

I have the exact same problem as Mrhavasu, my UPR drain PLUG (not valve) tongs will not release/turn from the oil pan, only the head of the UPR drain plug turns freely. Any help would be appreciated. This is only the second time for oil change. The first time oil change with the UPR oil...
