B&O 10" sub replacement guide

Very cool thread

Just bought the pioneer, harness clips, and poly fill on Bezosworld. Funny, the quantity of subs available dropped as I was ordering so others are finding this thread, as well lol. Down to 8 available!

I will read through all of the pages soon but spot-checked a few key posts to find out what to order.

I have a 22 GT500 so hopefully this is a good option. Thought I saw a comment that it seemed odd in the 22 gt500 from someone.

Quick question that I wanted to double check I’m understanding what I read. Is it correct that since I bought the harness clip 2-pack, I don’t need to cut or unclip or do anything to any stock wiring? I saw mentions of unpinning wires from the factory clips and of cutting wires, but I believe the harness clips avoid all of that, correct?

That is correct, you don’t. Just plug the two new harnesses in the factory plugs and then into the speakers. Before I did that, I twisted the wires that go into the speakers and then covered them in solder to make a nice solid connection to the speakers when you screw them down…which is very common when wiring speakers.

I looked into that one. I came away thinking we wouldn’t hear a $350 sub with the B & O amps. Hopefully he does.
I was shocked at the performance of that inexpensive Pioneer sub.

You might be right about the B&O amps not being able to drive the JL. I don't have the B&O system but I wanted a factory look for the sub install so I went with the factory box. I'm driving it with a 500 watt aftermarket amp and am satisfied with the bass. Like I said, it's clean and tight and loud enough for me.

Forgot to come back here and reply after I did the Pioneer the other day. Overall went well. Heat gun on the ring before prying it up saved all but two of my pins. For those I just used a dab of silicone glue when reassembling.

sound is fantastic and definitely a worthwhile and noticeable difference, especially for $70

Knocked this out yesterday, really impressed with the pioneer speaker running on all the OEM components. Shot a quick video, but you may need headphones or a real speaker with bass to hear how well the low end sounds.



Followed this threads guides and modified the ring of the pioneer speaker so that the OEM ring fully seated down on the speaker and clamped in with the OEM screws and locations. Used the adapter harnesses so that it’s completely reversible if for some reason I wanted to go back.

596 post on here with many people having done and reported on the upgrade. Yes you will notice the improvement, plus it is cheap and easy to do.
