Finally upgraded my phone to one that supports wireless charging! Wondering if there are any decent wireless charging pads that fit in a 2018+ Mustang that are also going to keep the phone in place instead of sliding off of the charging pad while driving. Also, out of curiosity, if I put an iPhone on a wireless charging pad that’s connected via usb, will CarPlay work or do you need the phone directly connected via a lightning cable?

Thanks! I should have specified better. I’ve seen the mount ones but was hoping for a pad that fits somewhere (like in the center console) and keeps the phone from sliding. I feel like those vent/cd mounts look a bit “junky” (not the exact sentiment I want, but I can’t think of accurate wording). For those that like them, I think that the robotic arm ones are better/more secure (you’re not relying on a magnet and small piece of glued on metal to hold your phone), and the “grip” automatically opens and closes around your phone. :)
I know that wireless CarPlay unfortunately isn’t available on Sync3, but didn’t know if wireless charging pads/mounts also transferred data while the phone was on it (ie: if CarPlay would work while the phone was on the charger).

I just ordered this device over the weekend to get the mustang to support wireless carplay.

Simple concept. The black box has the Bluetooth/Wifi for the connection to the phone and converts the signal to what the Sync3 wants over the USB. I plan to put it in the center console where my current USB/Lightening cable is plugged in.

I hear you. How about something like this? Price seems reasonable. Fakespot gives it an “A” on it’s reviews.

It’s a hard no on CarPlay thought. You have to use the cable. Maybe a future version of Sync 3 will address this.
I went with this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H88Q7KJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_aqQ5DbX59B529
It has a lip so the phone should “stay” :)

Yes. I think that's what the OP wanted.
