I've run across a couple of cases where either a) we wanted to know if brand X 95lb injector really flowed the same as brand Y 95lb injector, or b) why I have 2 differing sets of injector data for one set of injectors. You can compare the Ford injector data but no one number can be used to...
Not mine, but wondering if this failure mode is common or a fluke. This occurred on e85, ~1.9-2.0 load (Whipple, 3” pulley), 20 deg timing, no knock, 7300 rpm. Compression ring lands were not broken in the traditional way.
I know early on it appeared as though Ford was using up old Gen3 short block stock in the S650, but I believe they've run out some time last year and the newer short blocks are different. For instance, I believe they share rods with the F150 now. The block part number is PR3Z-6010 rather than...
Just another one to share with the community...I got a pretty sweet 2-step working with the stock OS.
There is a mode embedded in most, if not all, modern Ford PCMs. It appears to be like burble-mode and flex-fuel - it's there but usually turned off. It's called "pass by mode" and I believe...
. . . and I didn't blow the engine. I set out to figure out exactly how the injector duty cycle air limit works, confirm it works, and make it work better. What I learned was that it works shockingly well. . . but "we" sabotage it and prevent it from working in various ways.
The final result...
I've been digging deep in the fuel pump control logic lately and wanted to share what I've learned.
The "lift" pump control actually works similar to lambda control, in that there is a feed-forward voltage as a function of desired pressure and flow (similar to MAF or injector constant tuning)...
All of the current stock-fuel line, dual-pump fuel systems have an apparent design issue in that they delete the oem fuel filter that resides in the bucket because the space is needed for the second pump. Gdi pumps and injectors need even cleaner fuel than conventional PFI, so many avoid these...
In this 145. Greg Banish on Calibrating Vehicles, Compliance, and the Aftermarket - YouTube video, Banish discusses how going into DFCO/DFSO right after WOT does damage to cats. I've long said that I had my doubts that absolute temp is what is damaging our stock-style ceramic-substrate cats...
Folks, lots and lots of discussion about fuel systems lately...but I think we've come up with "the" answer. We've been over the countless problems and shortcomings of bucketless systems, bucketed systems, return-style system, full-on-all-the-time systems, lack of diagnostics, lack of control...
I'm currently running the Mach1 HP wheels with Nitto NT555 G2 front (285/35R19) and NT555 RII rear (305/35R19). The traction isn't enough, and they are heavy, at 64-65 lb.
I love the appearance of the PP2 wheels so I'd like to put together a drag pack with the PP2 appearance. For reference...
This isn't my car, but a close friend's...but he decided to see just how far he could go on a single deadheaded DW400. The basic setup is a 2019 GT, M6, Whipple, 3.0" griptec pulley (~18 psi), and e85.
This is the Whipple-supplied DW400. Other mods were a 22v BAP, power wire upgrade, and DW95...
I started down the path of transmission tuning using PCMTec and, man, there's a lot here. I have had success transplanting shift characters and even making hybrid shift characters (normal shifts at part throttle and drag shifts at full throttle, for example), but I might just give up...
The Gen3 Coyote PCM logic really is amazing. It will do things that Gen2, Ecoboost, and even GT500 won't do.
I've posted about my 2020 F-150 several times before, so here's another one. As most know, the Roush supercharger has a charge temp problem that severely constrains power when octane...
I'm posting this just because I got lucky and caught this in a log, so you can see exactly what goes on. Secondly, Roush uses an actual MAP sensor, so the data is more than what you'd get from a MAF car that fails in the same way.
This is a 2020 Roush Nitemare F-150. It's the same...
I've been doing a lot of testing on E85 using single brushed pumps and thought I would share some interesting results.
In my 2018 car, I'm running a Whipple on the 3.25 pulley and E85 using my own flex tuning. I'm running a DW400 and initially tried it using an 18volt vmp bap and 55 lb...
2018 stock PP1 wheels with about 50,000 miles on them. There is minor curb rash on 3 of them and the worst spots are pictured (key fob for size reference).
Front tires are 255/40-19 (stock size) Firestone Indy 500s with about .230" tread remaining. New is about .3125".
Rears are 275/40-19...
As most have accepted, the challenge of making power with a supercharged Gen3 Coyote on pump gas is maximizing spark timing while avoiding knock. The rule of thumb is that 1 deg is 20 hp, but this gets worse the lower you go. I would qualitatively say that the goal should be to stay around 18...
I did some dyno testing to determine for myself, once and for all, whether it’s more powerful to run less boost and more timing or vice versa, and how much cats hurt power.
This is a stage 2 Whipple 2018 10r80, xdi pump, and full 3” exhaust. Figures are STD. Another note is that I was...
Will pay $250 plus shipping for a pair. Failed cats are perfectly acceptable. I've priced these out with rrcats and a local recycler and the going rate is apparently around $80 each.
