When I went to flash the ecm with procal it failed after about 20 minutes with the error …. “ service not supported in active session”
Called tech support, they advised me to restart the process
Now it immediately fails with the message “ unable to validate legacy list -pm”

Looking through the log files I see the orginal attemp start at 2:26 pm
Unpacks files … lots of log entries
At 2:49 ….invalid ping runnable in PingTerminatedEvent
This is the same time the software reported “service not supported in active session”

I have tried multiple times with multiple options to no avail

Gonna let it set with the battery disconnected and try it in the am
If it fails, tech support time

any thoughts, suggestion?

You might be screwed. Did you have a battery tender hooked up while you were doing this?

The ECU isn't going to be destroyed or anything but you may need a dealer to recover the as built calibration before you try again.

Yes, I had a charger hooked up.
During one of my calls to tech support, looking at the software they said the battery voltage was low and I should charge it before retrying ….
Charged it… voltage above 12 ….
Same issue

It sounds like the battery wasn't charged enough when you started and it caused it to error out. I've found these cars are super picky with flashing and you want to let it charge to 100% before starting.

They may have something else you can try but most likely it's gonna be a dealer visit or mobile service at this point.

Get a copy of forscan. It has the ability to flash the PCM back to as built.

Too bad you are so far away. Maybe a forum member will flash it for you if you don't have the software and dongle.

Finally got the car running with the Power Pack 2 Tune.
What a GIANT PITA.

Forscan did not have the ability to help me out of this mess. Several email to tech support (Forscan tech support is awesome.) and it was just not possible. Need to install PCM micro code since it was bricked. Forscan could not find/see the PCM!

Had a Ford mechanic buddy flash the PCM back to as built.
I then reinstalled the Power Pack 2 flash/tune.... puked, would not start.
Procal got to "Turn off power module" then just sat there.

After about 2 hours of Tshooting I deleted the initial calibration and copied in one of the other ones that Procal tried after the initial puke last week.

Ran for 10 minutes and succeeded ... what a relief

It appears the root cause of the whole mess was the corrupt initial calibration procal downloaded. It just sat there for 23 some odd minutes killed the battery and ate the PCM.

Glad you got through it in the end. How do you like the tune?

Still getting use to it...
A lot more "intake noise" at WOT
Throttle repose is MUCH quicker
Seems to be more torque down lower
Still trying to figure out the no lift shift... right foot does NOT want to stay matted during a shift ... hard to undo 50 years of rowing gears... old dogs, new tricks
