Can I just order a spare tire even though my car didn’t come with one?

I have a Mustang GT with PP wheels. Can I just remove the inflation kit and put in a spare ?
Is my only option to order it from the dealer?

The spare will fit in your trunk-well. A quick google search will find plenty of places other than Ford that will sell the spare kit.

The issue is what front brakes do you have? 6 piston Brembos will not work with the Ford factory spare tire. And staggered wheel fitment is another issue that fights with the ABS and more. There are some aftermarket solutions out on the market I believe. You have got to carry a spare with these low profile tires. One flat could wreck your weekend and need several days to solve. Since most tire stores do not have HP tires in stock, the wait for a special order can take some time.

the factory spare will not clear the brembo brakes on the pp cars, so it's rear only if you go that way. I made a spare by buying the cheapest aftermarket rim I could find and put a off brand tire of the correct diameter on it. BEWARE it will fit in the well but sticks up almost 2 inches, no more flat trunk floor. I didn't think of that before hand but it is what it is now! Jim

Do you have a pp1 op? Or just the wheels?

Actually, my dealer checked with Ford Engineers, they never made a spare tire to sell or install for PP1 cars. Maybe that has changed in the last few months, don't know. Otherwise you will have to spend $450-$500 for the kit from a online supplier.

ok you’re fine then. Looks like a spare wheel and tire goes for about$225-275 on eBay, tire rack, etc.
Make sure they are to Fit Brembo Front Brake Calipers, and if it is a Complete Kit. Everyone I looked at on Ebay were not complete kits and were not for Brembo Front Brake Calipers. Good Luck.
