I wouldn't be surprised if Ford had two HP ratings depending on the use of 87 or 91+ octane. Just like they do with their Ecoboost motors.

I only use 87, mostly city, avg 18-19. A few years ago I had an 06' v6 and got 20-21.
2mpg difference for literally double the HP isn't bad.

If I can go from a 13 year old BORING suv to a ~440 hp Mustang GT and actually GAIN a few mpg, I'll be happier than a camel on wednesday! I get about 17mpg in my Escape.

I'm surprised your Escape is that poor. My 16 year old V8, AWD Mountaineer (322K this morning) does close to 16 mpg. But I see the same sort of thing - Its around a 1/3 MPG improvement going from that to my current Mustang GT...

Well, I didn't mention that it is 4wd, which I bet hurts a little. And that 17 is almost all city....but honestly I'll be happy if it's the same.
