For all the FI car's I've seen blow internals, the pistons were the first to go breaking ring lands.

All the motors I have seen with FI bend the rods. I am not worried at all about the pistons! Emissions has a big part in the type of pistons we see.

I know there's been bent rods but I'm searching everywhere and coming up empty. Searching for blown pistons comes up with dozens of hits.

I don't have to search. I have seen it.

I'd love to drop an Aluminator Xs into a Mustang. 500+ HP without boost has got to feel good.

Considering the price of that engine, you'd probably be better off to simply wait for the GT350, which is currently rumored to be a 5.2L putting out more than 500HP N/A.

PS - I think boost feels pretty darn good. But the lower complexity, heat and weight of a N/A motor is nice.

Nothing wrong with boost. I'm thinking of doing some road trips where all I want is good cooling and brakes, along with creature comforts. I'm just too old school not to think that I'd need forged internals for durability. I may be wrong, but I'm OK with that.

I may be entirely wrong about this, but from what I've read, it seems that the block itself is the weakest link. It's as light as they can make it and the more horsepower you bolt on, and more importantly, how often you use it, the sooner it will fail. Ford Racing has an M6010-M50R block that supports high power Coyote builds with more material around the bores. Otherwise, I'd hesitate to bolt on more than 100 HP and I'd wait until the warranty was expired.

Depending on how you use it these blocks, crank, and rods are pretty safe at 700+. The block becomes questionable at 900+.

I had an '84 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe that was quick. I had a '72 Ranchero with a 351C 4/bbl that was fast. I liked fast.
had a 83 tc then a 89 sc..

not sure i would say the 83 was quick.. it moved pretty well for its time.. but quick.. not really..

You'll need to get new pistons any way when you bore the block, so the stock ones don't matter.
