Building of GT350: body going Down the Paint line

This was shared on facebook by a good friend of mine, here's the first sneak peek at a "Show Car" GT350 going down the paint process

I'm 99% sure thats Avalanche gray, did anyone order it? (vin in picture):clap2:

That looks like the E-coat, not paint.

And why do they have to place a sign "Show Car"? Does that mean the production line staff should pay "extra" attention to detail and QC??

Can't quite read the VIN

This is very cool! I've got several pics of mine on the assembly line after paint through the final production.

It will be J4 paint code which is DIB.

This car will be a Deep Impact Blue w/ Tech....

The paint code "J4" on that production line build sheet confirms it's to be a DIB as well.

And "67" on the build sheet indicates "Tech Pkg"

I was thinking the exact same thing. If panel fitment were better maybe they wouldn't have had to notate how "special" this car was.

But agree, not the final paint, the car behind it is a GT and painted the same base color

MY exact order specification...but sadly my order has not been "scheduled" yet...

I remember that the 1 off BOSS 302 Woodward raffle car for charity was specified to have factory "show car" attention...if I recall Ford staff stated there is extra attention given to the finish of the paint compared to "regular" line cars.

I'm guessing this one was headed for car show circuit or at least something special! :coolphotos:

Unfortunately, that's exactly what it means. Plant engineering develops the tools and processes such that the cars come out totally clean and high quality fit about 99% of the time. With a lot of extra attention, they could make it 100%, but that would be very costly.

They do about 60 or so cars an hour, so 4-5 cars per shift will need to be looked at, most for minor issues.
