I used to occasionally do the track thing when I was younger (Lime Rock, Sebring, LVMS), and yes, for that, I wanted a track-capable car. I drove Vipers on the track at Skip Barber, and I remember thinking I was soooo glad it was NOT my car, as I put it in the gravel, over cones, and everywhere...
Thanks. I pretty much only buy convertibles or targa tops. Dislike coupes - too hot/cramped inside. I think it's a 40+ age thing. Just look at the sales of open top vs fixed roof corvettes over the years.
It's a convertible, so the season is on my side for the next few months. That, and Chevy dealers are working the "they don't make 'em anymore" angle - can't touch the Collectors Edition versions right now for less than $100K. A nice tailwind.
I'm still trying to think about Caddys in a different way. I still picture them with soft seats that have buttons. I was watching a replay of 24 Hr of Daytona and the winning Porsche team said "we really took it to the Cadillacs today." Sounds funny.
In other news, here's a fresh pic of my ZL1:
It's nice weather today for a 650HP convertible. I'm sad to let her go (on BaT now), but another Mustang is probably in my future. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2023-chevrolet-camaro-convertible-4/
I noted above the other cars I've owned with the point being ...this is a 'Mustang.' I wouldn't have done this with a Porsche or one of the Vipers I've owned. That said, I like it - and I never liked any of the original 2015-2021 rear deck looks from Ford (a gas cap that hardly looks like a...
It's matte, but there is some water showing in the pic since I had just washed it. I think I got it from Am Muscle, but everybody has it. It lays on top of the rear panel with 3M tape - it's a great solution if you botched up removing the original emblem or scratched up the original decklid...
Thanks! Don't know yet about the cleaning it.
Could care less. I've owned a '65 Shelby clone, a '67 Hi-Po fastback, a '69 Mach 1, a '73 Mach 1, a '67 Chevelle SS396, a '69 Camaro RS/SS 350, Corvettes and multiple Vipers. I'm too old to worry about what somebody with their first Mustang...
If you search "GT350 track pack rear spoiler," you should find lots of options. Mine was specially made version for the convertible (from LMR, but they don't have it anymore). I think it means just slightly higher and with smaller corners on the ends to clear the antenna, but not sure there's...
Yes, I had to remove the original spoiler. I don't think all of the holes lined up - if I remember, I had to drill a couple of new holes, but all old holes were covered. Two levels of holes from underside of trunk (bigger holes, with plastic plugs, just to get to smaller holes for spoiler)...
Just finished my rear decklid project.
- (1) 4.5" Cobra emblem from Asia (they come in ABS and metal - I found a metal one)
- (2) Stainless M5 10mm flathead Phillips screws
- (1) Drake honeycomb panel
- Used emblem adhesive backing with holes as my drill template from front of honeycomb panel...
