We're not actually using a "spacer", it's part of the intake manifold. If it were removed it wouldn't be a manifold anymore.
We've been planning on looking into offering spacers for other manifolds though. There are a lot of hurdles to jump though. Number one is that it will raise everything...
I absolutely agree that keeping IAT1's down is important. It means there is less to cool down with the limited ability to cool. You can take every single bite out of the cooling apple and it will still never be "bulletproof". So I'm a huge proponent of taking any and every bite possible...
That's the thing. The stock IAT reads way out in the MAF sensor in the airbox. Your IAT2 should show what is inside the intake manifold, which is hotter. So what you're seeing is IAT1, which is mostly irrelevant on a PD car.
I think there is a lot of confusion over IAT1/IAT2 data with the S550's. This is not helped by the fact that different tuners, different kits, etc use different methods of collecting that data. Then add in that the S550 PCM's don't read IAT's very accurately for some reason. Then add in that...
Congressional bill to prevent the EPA from being able to stop you from modding your car. It’s time to act!
As some of you know there is new wording in EPA regulations that could cripple the aftermarket industry. Aftermarket companies will go out of business, and you won’t be able to get parts...
I don't know why it's not reading correctly. That's a tuner thing, and I'm no tuner.:)
Lund couldn't get it to work.
I'm guessing it's because you have deeper access in to the ECU.
Yes, the IAT2 sensors are accurate (not perfect though) and they react almost instantaneously to temperature...
ANOTHER Petition To Sign About This EPA Banning Mods
This is the whitehouse.gov petition. Not the one that was going around yesterday. It need another 30K signatures as of right now.
Sign it...
We originally wired into the IMRC but when it came time to tune Lund was not able to get that pin allocated for temp reading. Or reading correctly. Maybe he doesn't have the software access you do???
I can assure you that the way we were hooked up/programmed those temps were not reading...
This is effectively what we ended up doing in the end. But when we did it there was no kit so we had to make it from scratch. Lund supplied us with the wiring schematic.
That was the first thing that tipped us off something was wrong. When we went key on the IAT2 was showing different than the CHT. They should be identical if the car is stone cold.
I'm guessing you're set up exactly like we are (or vice versa) being that we're both tuned by Lund, using the N Gauge and wired in the same way. You're correct, it's pretty damn close. Close enough for government work.:D
I'm not sure how close let's say the S197's were. I've never heard of...
