Say what? Actually magazines have matched and beat them.
GM said 4.0 and 12.3 for the auto.
Car and Driver got 3.9 and 12.3...
GM said 4.3 and 12.5 for the manual.
Motor Trend got 4.0 and 12.4...
Road and Track got 4.2 and 12.5...
Why is the GT350 being compared to the SS, the base price is like $13,000 lower? The GT should be compared, not the GT350...
I guess it holds well for the SS being that it's performance is so close to GT350 levels for less cash, but still.
Autoweek always sucks...Road & Track just released a 12.5 and I think Hot Rod got a 12.4 like Motor Trend who also got a 12.4. Either way you look at, those times are great, especially on run flats.
As for the GT350, with that trap speed, I expect better ET's to come. The R has pretty sticky...
Not true really. The quality of the calipers/rotors/pads/lines/fluid etc more so determine that. I have a few family members that run SCCA and NASA, and the guys they hang around with a beyond into this stuff. They have said countless times in most cases the advantage of 6 over 4 pistons is...
FYI, 6-piston brakes are an option on the '16 Camaro SS...the 4 pistons are standard.
And another FYI, piston count doesn't mean the brakes will be any better. Once you reach 4 pistons you are just about as good as you are going to get. Read this for example...
Say what? 50% of the people at test and tune night are running stock Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes, Challengers for heads up street nights, bracket racing, etc. Guess you have never been to a drag strip on a street night or test and tune night with that statement...
Anybody who drag races would like that advantage. I do, and 1 or 2 tenths is a lot actually, as in car lengths. Guys who race do a lot just to gain .1, gaining .1 or .2 off that bat is actually a great advantage to have. On the track, or on the street...
Not sure about Autoblog, the Chevy mag was definitely a manual...
Going by ATS-V times, and how they have nearly identical power to weight ratios (with the Camaro being a little lighter) and use the same transmissions if I recall I can believe the SS numbers. ATS-V tests have shown the...
Agree
That is one 4.4 out of how many dozens of tests though? The new SS will most likely be in the low 4's in all of it's tests...
False. How do you void your warranty racing your car unless you call up your dealer and say "hey I am going to race my car"? Even then they have to...
1-Pretty sure one of the first Mustang dealer posters said 4.8 seconds, I can check tonight as I have it hanging in my garage...
2-Pretty sure Autoblog got a 3.7, and Chevy High Performance (or something like that) got a 3.8. There were many 3.9's too, which is right there...
The SS comes with run flats. They suck too LOL...
I wish both came with a Michelin Pilot Super Sport option...or something like that.
But, with no warranty. That is important to many.
The ATS-V, with nearly identical power and more weight, in the same chassis with the same transmission has done it in 4.1 and 3.9.
The 4.4 0-60 was the only real good test of a new 5.0, most are in the high 4 second range. There have been two auto tests, both were 4.5.
You are comparing one...
Offended nope, I actually found your post comical. I own two other Mustangs, and have nothing against the S550. I did test drive the '15, and wasn't impressed...yet. I am hoping for an improvement for '17. The '15 has basically no performance gain over the '14. If anything, it lost some...
What a fan boy like response...good cars on both sides breed better cars down the road. Competition is good!
Bottom line is the new Camaro SS is the performance benchmark now. Even the interior on the Camaro looks like it will be better quality then Ford. Ford dropped the ball big time not...
