So I travel quite much and am hoping on upgrading to a EB in the next few months. Typically, I drive around 350 miles in a week, primarily on highways and country backroads. I'm lucky enough where I rarely sit in bumper to bumper traffic, but I will need this vehicle to last me a good 7 to 8 years and anywhere from 125k to 150k miles. It snows here in NJ a few times a year but it's always hit or miss. Is this the vehicle for me or should I look elsewhere?

I don't think anyone has put that many miles on their EBM to answer that question.

Honestly I don't know any modern day vehicles that won't last that long if they are taken care of. Every vehicle will have a maintenance schedule to follow but if you stick with that I see no reason it would fail before 200k unless just constantly abused.
My very first car when I was 16 was a 1998 mustang v6 5 speed and I purchased it at 145k miles and literally beat the snot out of it until 205k miles just to sell it again and to this day the darn thing still runs around my small home town and that was 5 years ago.

You're fine. Just take care of it. But honestly... with your job... I'd have a Toyota. Hell, I'd buy a used one, too. I know - boring - but just about zero worry.

I'd go with the V6 or GT for reliability as they have been around much longer that the ecoboost and have proven to be quite reliable.
That said, the ecoboost should be fine if not abused, well maintained and left stock.

^This. This engine could be bulletproof for 200k but no one knows yet. People have been known to take the GTs and V6s to 125k+ without any issues so if you want a safe bet I'd go with one of those.

Both I and several other members on this and other forums commute as much if not more than 350 mi. a week. I believe the general consensus has been that the Ecoboost was the best choice for a daily driver/commuter due to the MPG's of the 2.3L vs 5.0L but still keeping the fun factor for a car like the Mustang. As others have stated, as long as you take care of it and keep up with your maintenance, it should easily last you the 7-8 yrs. you're looking for. Personally I couldn't be happier with the car and it makes my commute much more tolerable!

There aren't many cars on the market these days that won't hit 100k with general maintenance. Quality has improved pretty much across the board. It will definitely take time before it can be said that these cars are bulletproof over 100k miles.

I'm already putzing around in an 07 Focus Sedan with an airbag light on, an automatic shift knob that fell off and ripped off the wires for the overdrive and a salvage title lol. Sounds like a real safe vehicle.

im going to ask the good question - what speed are you normally traveling at?

because if its 55-70mph dont buy a 2015+ mustang

and if it were me I would buy a used Lexus LS460 for 25k. that would put you into a 2010 model year with reasonable miles.

Buy a low miles certified pre owned like I did and get the 7 yr 100,000 powertrain warranty. No worries !

Basically 95% of my commute is around 50-55mph, which are basically all backroads and such, where the speed limit is 55.
