Went for a drive. Went out through Old Julian Highway to Santa Ysabel. North to Mesa Grande. Through Mesa Grande out to the Hideout.
Each time I drive this car, I am more and more impressed. Mesa Grande is a VERY tight and technical road with a lot of downhill sections. Most cars experience significant brake fade towards the end and a lot of understeer through the downhill turns while braking. The Shelby exhibited none of these symptoms and took the road like a champ. I briefly saw rear end temps touch 220f but experienced no limp mode while severely beating on the car.
I have a Spec Miata that I have run through Mesa Grande many times and while the Shelby isn't nearly as nimble, the extra 400hp makes it a lot more fun overall.
Then, I basically turned around and did it all over again on the way back. Unfortunately, on one of the straighter stretches, I got lit up by CHP. When I looked down, I was doing around 85 (in a 55). He came to my window, chatted for a minute, I directed his attention to the newness of the car to me, and then he collected my info. Came back about 2 minutes later and said, "I know that you just got the car, so I am writing you a fix it ticket for no front license plate. Learn to control the power of the beast."
Took it easy the rest of the drive home, but thankful for no blood / no foul.
I know that feel. It's worth the wait.still counting days waiting for my car to arrive, that's what I do everyday since last month when I booked the car !
Looks great, did you do that your self, or have it done? Enjoy your ride... thanks JohnGot rid of my resonators today.

Please share you stereo upgrade once complete.:cheers:Took mine for a ride and got my subwoofer box done. Hoping to get my stereo done in the next couple weeks when time is available.
Picked it back up from the dealer. Drove it about 100 miles.
Installed a blend mount and mirrortap.
Installed redline hood struts.
Wiped the car down, then tried out the cover for the first time.
Also realized AFTER i got home that the rear bumper STILL isnt right.
Also noticed that a single drop of sweat or moisture must have fallen on the decklid while it was being painted, because there is a perfectly round, droplet sized dot of paint missing on the trunk lid that wasnt that way when it was on the showroom floor and i did not notice it last saturday when i dropped the car off at the dealer ( i even wiped it down for Cars and Coffee, so I know I would have noticed.
Back to the dealer again... :frusty::headbonk::doh:
a mount for my escort max360 so it sits right below the rearview mirror instead of having to use the ugly suction cup windshield mounts. The mirror tap give said radar detector power instead of having to run a cable to the aux power outlet. What is a blend mount and mirror tap?
